I actually started dabbing my hand in blogging when I was asked to write a blog for Zephyr as part of the coco. I was quite nervous at the beginning because it was an important responsibility and I had to report as accurately as I could. However due to the very same coco work, I didn’t get a chance to expand beyond the first article which I wrote for the blog. That’s why today I decided to dedicate a post to the event which became very close to my heart this sem. Initially I was a bit shy and silent during the meetings. This usually happens when I meet new people. But as I got to know them I realized that Zephyr coco is one of the wackiest groups on the campus. And then the fun began.
Day 0:
I had my cp lab from 5-7 that day. Luckily I managed to get out early and I was immediately sent back to my hostel to get my laptop. First day had its glitches with the sound system but ultimately the inaug and dance duo which followed it, folded up quite gracefully.
Day 1:
My duty at the outdoor stage began. The first event was mad ads and I sure went mad organizing it !! The ever late participants led to the event getting delayed by half-an-hour and so the judge refused to come. At the last moment we got our most favorite judge of Zephyr 2011 “Bijli”, who bailed us out in the hour of need. The event which was actually a last minute addition turned out to be an entertainer beyond our expectations. An excellent performance by AH-7 led to them being declared the winners. Their product was Himalaya face wash and Jadoo got so impressed by their narrator that she decided to start using it at once J.I took li8 for the next 2 events which were mock talk show and arm wrestling. Then the audi duty began and I finally reached my room dead tired at 12:30.
Day 2:
I was back at the outdoor stage, this time determined to start a bit early as it was a Saturday. However, the hostel reps refused to cooperate with my wish and we again started an hour later. This time however we had our original judges and went through stand-up comedy, rap battle and acoustic music. I wasn’t that much into the first 2, however acoustic music led to me getting into a fix with AH-8, as they continued singing even after my warning that the time limit is over and thus got negative marks. After this we ran to the audi to get the best seats for the fashP and face of zephyr. Both events met the expectations attached with them and another day of Zephyr dawned to an end.
Finally Day 3:
My last day at the outdoor stage. We started off with solo singing and then moved on to serial killer. By this time I got a bit bored and handed over the reins to an enthusiastic junior and went and enjoyed a gola treat :P. The last event on the outdoor stage was the dance showdown and it turned out to be such a thriller that at the end we had the whole crowd (including me) cheering for a guy from a first yearite hostel. Then we shifted our base to the audi for the final gold event- group dance. Group dance kept its level and its end marked the end of Zephyr 2011. However, things hadn’t ended for us yet. We had a cake cutting ceremony by our ex-convener and present convener and got our reward for our hard work. Ultimately we sneaked into our hostels at 12:35 and sank into a well deserved sleep after 4 days of running, chaos and fun.
Zephyr 2011 might have ended but it is a new beginning for us. Zephyr 2012 will be coming soon with more surprises and fun. This zephyr led to me getting better acquainted with MCP and a whole lot of other mad people with whom I enjoyed working. Overall, it was an awesome experience and looking forward to the same next year…
